What happens when the person saying “I love you” no longer makes you feel like the only person in the world. What happens when the person telling you they love you sounds so hollow when they say it. What happens when you’re crying your self to sleep next to that person and they don’t even notice. What happens when they can go straight to sleep without telling you goodnight. What happens when you finally realize that it’s over. Do buildings come crumbling down, does the sky fall, does the wind whoosh around you and you have an epiphany? No. None of that happens when you realize it’s over. You know what happens?? You sleep alone. You cant make yourself care anymore. Sure, you cry alone in the bathroom while your tears hit the linoleum tiles. Sure, you feel like your heart is basically Swiss cheese with all those holes in it. But you know what? Buildings still stand. The sky is still there. This is not movie. When you realize it’s over and you’re sitting in your bed alone after not having any desire to spend another second with them, you’ve done it. You’ve taken the first step. It is true that cold kisses are poison and you’re better off without them.

Love isn’t always pretty. Sometimes you spend all your time hoping it’ll eventually be something different. Something better. Then, before you know it, you’re back to square one, and you lost your heart somewhere along the way.
